Vintage Cookbooks

While this seems a small production type of cookbook without a huge readership, I hope people more familiar with griddlecake proportions and recipes maybe able to answer this question.

I will post the recipe and then my question. The recipe tells you the ingredients as you use them so I will follow this method.

1. Mix:
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal
1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar

Add 1 1/2 cup milk or buttermilk
2 tbsp. oil
1 egg

Lightly oil griddle - and well regular pancake type directions

Anyway my question is do you think they mean oats or actual already prepared oatmeal or is there a dry oatmeal like a cornmeal? If it is a dry oatmeal... can I just grind oats? I just found the ingredient vauge. This recipe sounds like the kind I've been longing for sooo HELP!!!!
