Copper Kettle
How can I clean the inside of a tea kettle?
It is stainless steel with a copper bottom. It is really old (made in 1968). Inside it is dirty, perhaps rusty? What is the bet way to get inside and clean with which product? Yes, I intend to use it. I would not worry about cleaning the inside of the if it was just for decoration. My husband said it was not rust it was just the accumulation of calcium and other forms in kettles over time. How safe is to use the kettle? How about after cleaning?
Try these options separately. First. Fill a kettle with household white vinegar. Let stand one hour and then gently rinse with warm water. If this does not work, try a product-CLR you can find in grocery stores by the cleaners. Use plastic gloves. Complete and swish around. This may take several applications. When clean. Dry your well and fill with newspaper black and white for about a week to help him stay clean and odor free. Try to fill the kettle with water. File in a denture tablet and let it fizz away completely. Then rinse. I have also heard of using cream of tartar and to rub around with a little water and rental. Then rinse.
