Art Cookbook
Have any cookbook ideas?
I am creating a cookbook for a senior project in my Culinary Arts class in high school. I need an idea for a front cover... The cookbook is a Texas state barbecue cookbook. What kind of picture should I have? Should it be a picture that's the size of the whole cover or a smaller one? I don't know how to layout the front cover. Any ideas? Thanks!
How to Make a Cookbook
Things You'll Need
24 pieces colored paper
1 piece card stock, cut in half
Hole puncher
Twine
Craft items of your choice
Recipes
Instructions
Gather 24 pieces of colored paper. Choose four different colors. Example: 6 Blue, 6 Green, 6 Yellow, and 6 Purple = 24 pieces of paper.
Fold six pieces of paper in half and slide them inside one another making a book. Do this with all the colors leaving yourself with four booklets.
Take a piece of white computer paper and fold in half. With a hole puncher punch six holes making pairs of two - two holes on top, two holes in the middle, and two holes at the end. Place the template on top of each book and use the template as a guide to punch holes in your booklet. These separate booklets are called signatures.
When holes are punched, design a cover with card stock. Take a piece of cardstock and cut in half evenly leaving you with a front and back. Design your covers and punch holes in the covers as well.
Pile your book (signatures) and its covers on top of each other making one stack - make sure your back cover is on the bottom and your booklets are sitting on top of the back cover. Slip twine all the way through the holes and having it come out the back. Make sure you make a knot with the two holes next to each other leaving yourself with three twine sections. Tight tightly behind the book not showing the knot in front. When done, start designing the inside of the book, add recipes, stamp and paint designs, be creative.
